FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ACCESS MONTGOMERY VOLUNTEER PRODUCERS WIN NATIONAL VIDEO AWARDS -Montgomery County residents take home video awards- (Rockville, MD) - Access Montgomery volunteer producers were honored with three winning entries and one honorable mention at the 2008 Hometown Video Festival. George Ramick of Rockville won in the Cultural Perspectives - non-professional category for his program BELTWAY BISTROS: SPAIN. This episode takes an in depth look at different restaurants and recipes in Spain. Vera Elliott of Brookeville received the winning entry in the category of Education Profile - non professional for her program A DAY IN THE n the category of Local Performances - professional, co-producers Eugene Saunders of North Potomac, Alvaro Calabia of Montgomery Village, and Susan Gardiner of Montgomery Village won for their program A LITTLE NEW MUSIC: EPISODE 7 that presents voice and piano concerts of contemporary music. Karen Allyn of Olney received an honorable mention for her program FORWARD MOTION I'm constantly impressed by the quality of videos our volunteers make on their own time, said Richard Turner, Executive Director or MCT. "Each of the programs were created by Montgomery County residents who volunteer their time and creativity to make these great programs for the community. The Hometown Video Festival Awards was presented at the Alliance for Community Media's 2008 International Conference and Exhibition in July. The annual awards recognize the achievements made by public access stations from across the country. Access Montgomery, a service of Montgomery Community Television, Inc., is the County's only independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to providing residents with diverse programming, television production, and training resources. Access Montgomery has successfully educated, informed, and entertained county viewers for over 20 years, training more than 5,000 county residents in its television production workshops. |
